Monitoring by Nurses

Description :A trained registered nurse monitors the heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, respiratory rate and level consciousness from the head of the patient?s table. You will notice a variety of monitors and machines that are used to monitor your vital signs and deliver medicine into your body. Typically, the procedure is done under conscious sedation using intravenous medicine. However, this procedure can also be done under general anesthesia. The IV sedation is administered by the trained registered nurse who is in turn supervised by the operating physician. Continued monitoring of vital signs is critical to the smooth and safe execution of the procedure. Periodically, the nurses also check the blood thinner levels and adjust the amount of blood thinner needed to prevent blood clots from forming.
